Bedwetting
Bedwetting Causes and Treatment
Dr KairulKurshida, Homeopathy Consultant, Institute of Applied
Dermatology, Kasaragod, Kerala
Many a time, we experience our children wetting the bed in a deep sleep. They cannot feel it and unknowingly as in an unconscious stage, they wet the bed. Did you ever think that it is seen only in your child? No…………It is said that of 100 children, around 2 of them face this problem. This bedwetting or sleepwetting is called nocturnal enuresis in the medical language. It is irritating to the kids as much as it is to the parents.
Till what age the bedwetting can be considered normal?...
Up to around 7, the child does
not have much control over the bladder.
And if it continues beyond the age of 7, it can be considered a
problem. The parents can be advised to be
patient and bring about control with a change in the lifestyle and few bladder
exercises. Most of the time, this brings
about a positive influence on the problem.
The
problem can be ignored if it happens rarely or once in a while. But if it is persistent for around 6 months,
medications can be considered for the same as it may affect the confidence and
social activity of the child by instilling a guilty conscience in the child.
Bedwetting and Homoeopathy
As you
know, the homoeopathy treats the patient as a whole (holistic approach). The physical constitution, mental and emotional
aspects, personal history of the patient like appetite, thirst, digestion,
sleep, thermal reaction, sweat etc will be assessed and the most similar remedy
(similimum) will be selected based on the totality of the symptoms of the
patient.
More
and more parents are choosing homoeopathy because it is safe, gentle and
children respond quickly to homoeopathy. The homoeopathic remedies act both on
the psychological, physiological and physical level to relieve bedwetting.
These remedies can prevent unwanted contractions of the bladder, restore normal
bladder musculature, function and urethral sphincter control, and hence,
prevent any involuntary passing of urine. Homoeopathic remedies treat
bedwetting naturally without disturbing the endocrine system and they reduce
anxiety, which is attributed to cause bed-wetting in children. These remedies
are natural, gentle, safe and can be given to children of any age.
We,
here in IAD, get a lot of patients troubled by bedwetting and manage that
through homoeopathy effectively. We proudly say that a good percentage of the
patients have responded well to the medicines and were pleased to get rid of
the problem.
