Staying healthy during the rainy season is a big challenge. Many develop skin problems during this season. Maintaining proper personal hygiene can avoid many of the health problems.  There are some bacterial Entry Points which triggers during this period. They lead to filarial fever or cellulitis in Lymphoedema patients.

What is Intertrigo or Fungal Infection?  

The high humidity can contribute fungus, and it leads to Intertrigo. To prevent this, always try to keep the area dry. Dry the interdigital space and folds after washing with soap and water during a bath or whenever you get wet. Use a clean cotton cloth to dry the area. Apply any antifungal cream or powder which absorbs the moisture. Never walk barefoot.


What is Paronychia/Nail Infection?

The wet and infected nail beds can give you pain and swelling. To avoid these keep your nails trimmed with a nail cutter. Never use any sharp objects like safety pins or blades to clean the nails. If necessary, apply antifungal cream.


Tips for Eczema/Itching:  Due to increased humidity, your skin becomes dry, and we feel itchy.

Always grease your skin with prescribed oil or any moisturizing cream.  Drink adequate boiled water to maintain moisture. Do not scratch the skin. Always wear clean and dry clothes.


Tips for Dental Caries:

We would like to have sweet and fried food during the monsoon season. Beware of dental caries. It also plays a significant role in bacterial entry points. Always maintain dental hygiene. Maintain a balanced diet and boost your immunity.
